Details Have Emerged From Justyn Ross’ Medical Status

Justyn Ross celebrates with Clemson teammates including Derion Kendrick after touchdown.

Justyn Ross didn’t hear his name called at any moment during the 2022 NFL Draft. It was a bitter outcome for who used to be one of the top wide receiver prospects in his class. Ross will still get his opportunity in the NFL, though.

On Monday, the former Clemson star signed an UDFA deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. He’ll have an opportunity to impress the AFC West franchise in training camp.

The Chiefs, meanwhile, are well aware of the medical issues Ross faces. NFL insider Ian Rapoport provided details of his situation on Twitter earlier today.

Justyn Ross had a congenital fusion of his upper cervical spine and then a surgical fusion at a level below performed by Dr. David Okonkwo, a respected Steelers doc. Many teams had taken him off their draft boards, so the risk was real. But the talent is also real. Lands in KC. https://t.co/GcK4HR1q6O

“Justyn Ross had a congenital fusion of his upper cervical spine and then a surgical fusion at a level below performed by Dr. David Okonkwo, a respected Steelers doc,” Rapoport tweeted. “Many teams had taken him off their draft boards, so the risk was real. But the talent is also real. Lands in KC.”

Ross became a college football star in 2020 when he caught 46 passes for 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns in Clemson’s offense. His talent is off the charts.

The biggest key for Ross will be staying healthy. If he does, he could become a legitimate weapon in the Chiefs offense.
