Over the weekend, the Duke Blue Devils reportedly started expressing interest in one of the top graduate transfers on the market.
Well, that interest paid off on Tuesday night. According to college basketball insider Jeff Borzello, former Columbia star Patrick Tape announced his commitment to Duke.
Last season, as a junior, Tape averaged 11.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-10, 232-pound big man scores the majority of his points around the paint, something head coach Mike Krzyzewski and company could use.
Tape also considered Ohio State, Syracuse and USC before the Blue Devils swept in and landed the top grad transfer. Duke provided an opportunity he couldn’t pass up heading into the 2020-21 season.

The commitment from Tape comes after Coach K and company lost out on another big-time graduate transfer.
Duke attempted to land Harvard forward Seth Towns, but saw Towns commit to Ohio State over the weekend.
Duke already lost star point guard Tre Jones to the NBA draft, but the Blue Devils will likely lose a few other stars as well. Vernon Carey could be the next Blue Devil to announce his NBA draft decision.
That should give Tape plenty of playing time next season as he holds it down in the paint.
