The ACC’s updated COVID-19 scheduling policy is in line with just about everybody else in college football: they will not be re-scheduling games that are casualties of COVID-19 protocols. If an ACC team does not have the required number of players available, it will forfeit and take a loss in the league standings.
Conferences built in some leeway into their schedules last year but went ahead like usual this fall, which is to say that there’s little wiggle room to move games around, even if they were inclined to do so. It’s not surprising that they aren’t going to bother.
The ACC is not going to subject vaccinated athletes to surveillance testing this fall, but unvaccinated athletes will continue to be tested on a weekly basis. On teams with a vaccination rate below 85 percent, the unvaccinated athletes will be tested three times a week. On teams meeting the 85 percent threshold, it’ll be once a week.
