Still work to be done, but the Wolfpack are trending in the right direction
Despite Tuesday’s loss to UNCW in which the NC State lineup just couldn’t come up with the timely hit, the Wolfpack find themselves currently in good position as the 2025 regular season winds down. In the latest projections for both D1 Baseball and Baseball America, NC State is listed as a Top 16 national seed, meaning the Pack would be hosting an NCAA Regional in Raleigh.
D1 Baseball is the more bullish of the two publications on the Pack’s current standing, listing NC State as the #13 overall seed, hosting (2) Ole Miss, (3) UConn, and (4) High Point. D1 also projects ACC members Florida State (#3 national seed), North Carolina (#5), and Clemson (#7) as regional hosts. (2-seed) Louisville, (2) Wake Forest, (2) Georgia Tech, (3) Duke, (3) Virginia Tech), and (3) Miami are projected participants.
Baseball America lists State as the last Regional host in the field, the #16 overall seed. Interestingly, BA also indicates they believe the Wolfpack will earn the ACC’s automatic bid, although that could be a typo since they also indicate that North Carolina (#4 national seed) is the owner of the ACC’s automatic bid as the projected conference tournament champion.
BA’s projected Raleigh Regional also features (2) Oklahoma, (3) Northeastern, and (4) Yale. In addition to NC State and UNC, BA projects ACC members Clemson (#6 national seed) and Florida State (#11) as regional hosts while the publication is aligned with D1 on the other ACC schools in the field: (2-seed) Louisville, (2) Wake Forest, (2) Georgia Tech, (3) Duke, (3) Virginia Tech), and (3) Miami.
NC State heads to Miami this weekend for a three-game series against the 27-18 Hurricanes who are currently ranked 33rd in the RPI.
