UNC basketball shooting guard Kerwin Walton has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to reports.
A 6-foot-5 former four-star recruit, Walton started 20 games as a freshman in 2020-21, averaging 8.2 points in 21.0 minutes per appearance. He also connected on 42% of his three-point attempts.
However, the Minnesota native saw his role decrease as a sophomore. Walton played in 31 of 39 games but only made one start, and he played just four total minutes in the NCAA Tournament.
With Caleb Love, R.J. Davis and Leaky Black all returning next season, Walton will look for a larger opportunity elsewhere.

With Walton leaving, UNC now has one available scholarship for the 2022-23 season. We would expect head coach Hubert Davis to turn to the transfer portal to fill it.
Coming off a run to the national championship game and returning four of five starters, UNC will likely be the preseason No. 1 team in college basketball next year.
