North Carolina’s basketball program is having a fantastic Wednesday. That’s because Hubert Davis just received a commitment from five-star forward GG Jackson.
Jackson is the No. 5 overall recruit and No. 2 power forward in the 2023 class, per 247Sports. He had scholarship offers from a plethora of schools, such as Auburn, Duke, Georgetown and South Carolina.
At the end of the day, Jackson chose Hubert Davis as his next head coach. It’s a smart decision after seeing how much success Davis had in Year 1.
As you’d expect, North Carolina fans are thrilled that Jackson is coming to Chapel Hill next year.

Any doubts about North Carolina’s future without Roy Williams were erased in March. Now, Davis is just showing that he can recruit as well as he can coach.
What makes the addition of Jackson so sweet is that he was considering Duke. This feels like yet another win for the Tar Heels.
North Carolina’s recruiting class for the 2023 cycle was ranked eighth overall before Jackson’s announcement. That ranking will change very soon.
