According to a report by Sports Business Daily, former Panthers safety Roman Harper will be joining SEC Network’s Saturday pregame show “SEC Nation” this fall, assuming there will be a college football season.
“Former NFLer Roman Harper will fill the fourth chair for SEC Network’s “SEC Nation” Saturday pregame show this fall, a source told SBJ, replacing analyst Marcus Spears. SEC Network’s Jordan Rodgers is also expected to join host Laura Rutledge and analyst Tim Tebow, while Paul Finebaum will no longer be a part of the program.”
Harper’s college team was Alabama, where he played under Mike Shula, later an offensive coordinator for Carolina.
After college, the Saints picked him in the second round of the 2006 NFL draft. He stayed in New Orleans until 2014, when he signed with the Panthers. For the next two seasons, he played a significant role for a defense that was peaking – including a team that went 15-1 and went to the Super Bowl. In all, Harper totaled four interceptions in 32 games with the Panthers.
After 2015, Harper played one more season for the Saints before retiring.
