Panthers prepare to shuffle guard, specialist positions on the roster.
The Carolina Panthers have started their roster mechanics for the week. So far, they have placed guard John Miller on injured reserve with the ankle sprain he suffered against the Giants and released punter Ryan Winslow and kicker Dominik Eberle (from the practice squad).

Starting with the simplest first, Winslow simply wasn’t good enough and kept the Panthers in poor field position every time he had the opportunity to punt. Zane Gonzalez has been a sufficient kicker so far, so Eberle was expendable. They have signed punter Lachlan Edwards to the practice squad in Eberle’s place and will likely activate him to the gameday roster this week while Joseph Charlton remains on injured reserve.
The Miller news is unsurprising after Rhule described his ankle sprain as “pretty bad” on Sunday. The Panthers starting right guard will now be replaced by some combination of Dennis Daley and Brady Christensen. Left tackle will depend on Cam Ervings health, as he has missed time off and on with a neck injury. If he can’t go then Trent Scott is likely the next guy up. That assumption is based on how Rhule felt about Christensen at left tackle after Sunday.
The Panthers remain a quite injured team. There is hope, however, that they are getting healthier on the whole, with hope that Erving, Shaq Thompson, Stephon Gilmore, and Juston Burris might all play this week and both Myles Hartsfield and Pat Elflein being designated for return from injured reserve.
