Every team in the NFL approaches the regular season with a “Super Bowl or bust” mentality. However, there are always a few teams that deep down have no chance of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
On Friday, NFL reporters Mike Florio and Charean Williams revealed which teams they believe have “no chance” to make the playoffs in 2021.
Florio went with the Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets. All three teams have potential-packed quarterbacks on their respective rosters, but their supporting casts are suspect.
Cincinnati isn’t sure how Joe Burrow will look post-ACL surgery, Jacksonville is entering its first season with Urban Meyer as the head coach, and New York recently lost its top defensive player to a torn Achilles.
As for Williams, she believes the Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans have “no chance” of making the playoffs.
Detroit is entering a rebuilding phase, Carolina isn’t sure if Sam Darnold is the answer at quarterback, and Houston is such a mess right now that we’d need an entire day just to list its current problems.

Florio mentioned that he nearly included the Philadelphia Eagles on this list, but they have the luxury of playing in the wide-open NFC East.
While it’s possible that one of these six teams will shock the NFL world and make the playoffs, there’s no doubt they’re all fighting an uphill battle.
