The Carolina Panthers already did their heavy lifting well ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline. So, there were no swaps to be made for their busy front office.
There was, though, still some maneuvering to be done and that came in the form of two signings to the practice squad.
Ahead of their Week 9 matchup with the New England Patriots, the Panthers signed quarterback Josh Love—a move to hedge the uncertain status of a concussed Sam Darnold. A few hours later, as reported by Joseph Person, the second addition would follow in defensive tackle Treyvon Hester.

Hester was a seventh-round pick of the then-Oakland Raiders in 2017. The 6-foot-2, 304-pound Toledo product, however, wouldn’t stick on as he was waived prior to the start of that season.
Since then, Hester has picked up stops with the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Football Team, Green Bay Packers and, most recently, the Buffalo Bills. He’s played in 41 games, with a pair of starts, between 2017 and 2019.
