The Buffalo Bills earned their ride to the divisional round of the NFL playoffs after beating the Jacksonville Jaguars in their wild-card showdown on Sunday, January 11, with a 27-24 final score. From here, MVP-winning quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills are getting closer to their dream of finally bringing a national championship to Buffalo.
“It trickles down from him in terms of the team’s toughness,” Bills head coach Sean McDermott said of Allen’s performance in the game. The quarterback finished the game with 306 yards of offense and three total touchdowns.
McDermott added, “When your quarterback is that type of warrior, that type of competitor, from a leadership standpoint it just goes through the whole team. We’ve got to get him as healthy as we can, though, for next week. It’s not something we take lightly. I did think overall that he took some hits today, but there were also sometimes where we protected him well.”
Now, the Bills will head to Denver to take on the Broncos in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. The divisional round begins on January 17, with two games: one at 4:30 p.m. and the other at 8:15 p.m. The round will continue on January 18, with games at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. But, the NFL won’t announce the Bills and Broncos game time until Monday evening, January 12.

Josh Allen Gets Props for His Performance in Wild-Card Showdown
In a piece published moments after the Bills pulled off their wild-card win over the Jags, Alec White of the Bills’ official website gives Allen props for his performance.
“Battered, bruised, but never broken. Bills quarterback Josh Allen was roughed up multiple times, needing to go to the medical tent twice during Sunday’s win,” he states in the piece. “But Allen delivered the final punch in the biggest moment, leading a nine-play, 66-yard touchdown drive to take a 27-24 lead with 1:04 remaining.”
White adds, “Allen was sensational throughout with 306 total yards and three touchdowns, but he especially lived up to his billing in the fourth quarter with two separate go-ahead scoring drives.” Allen was was five of five passing for 53 yards on the final possession, according to research from the NFL, “including a clutch 36-yard completion to Brandin Cooks, the longest gain of the day by either team.”
After the game, Allen was all about love, telling his teammates, “I love y’all. I got you, you got me.”
