ROCK HILL, S.C. — Class of 2026 four-star forward Cody Peck has scheduled official visits to Dayton (Sept. 19) and Tennessee (Oct. 24), he told ZAGSBLOG.
Peck, the 6-foot-11 forward out of Davidson Day (NC), was a standout for Garner Road on the 3SSB circuit this summer. He finished third in 3SSB play in blocks per game (2.7) and added 6.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest. He said the summer has been great for his development.
“I’ve been really working on my motor lately,” Peck told ZAGSBLOG. “I like to think of myself as high-motor. I’ve been working on my intensity. And just really versatile. I take pride in defense, guarding 1-5. I need to work on my aggression on offense I would say, but I like to think of myself as an all-around player.
“I like working on the wing and the high post,” Peck continued. “I like to play make from the high post a lot, one dribble to the paint. I like to only use a few dribbles to get to my spots in the mid-range or attacking the basket.”
The areas that have taken the biggest step for Peck this summer include absorbing and finishing through contact, as well as his lateral quickness when defending guards.

Peck comes from an athletic family with his father, Michael, playing under Billy Donovan at Marshall and his aunt, Carolyn, being in the women’s basketball hall of fame. His sister, Carly, plays volleyball at North Carolina.
On the recruitment front, Peck has previously taken unofficial visits to Clemson, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and NC State and Virginia under their old staffs. He’ll be looking to set up some more visits this fall in addition to Dayton and Tennessee.
The four-star forward broke down some of the programs involved:
Clemson: “I liked the visit way more than I thought I would. My family likes it. The coaches seem really grounded I would say, not really letting the outside affect them. Not really huge egos or anything like that. So it’s always a good time.”
Dayton: “They’ve been on me a lot. When Obi Toppin was there, he was a college player I looked up to in a way. Just being like a taller kid that was starting to gain some athleticism, he was a really special player to see. I have some family ties with Dayton, the coach of my dad from way back [Anthony Grant]. So it’s been nice.”
NC State: “I went before they got their new coaches, but the new coaching staff reached out. I loved the visit. It was my first one, so it was pretty special. The new coaches, they seem also really grounded. Just really working on — I see their posts everyday — they really work out and are building a strong team, team bonding and making sure everyone’s connected. So that’s a family feel I’d be chasing after.”
Tennessee: “They’ve just been really persistent. Coach [Bryan] Lentz, he’s been really on my family. Texting really my brother, my sister, my dad, my mom and even my aunt I think. He texted me this morning. He’s just a really persistent guy I would say, really good at recruiting too. They’re a pretty all-around team I would say. They don’t focus too much on their guards. I know their guards were really good defensively last year. They distribute the ball well. They aren’t really necessarily like an iso team. They know how to play for sure, especially having a smaller guard last year. Knowing how to utilize him to run their offense, that was nice to see.”
Virginia: “They reoffered me and we’re thinking of setting up another visit to get up there with the new staff.”
Virginia Tech: “Mike Young was on me a lot, especially last summer. The whole visit was great. The gym is nice. I like the way it’s built, the seats are stacked up on top of each other basically. And just things like their supportiveness through the whole process has been outstanding.”
The other two programs Peck named are Alabama and LSU. He has offers from both of those schools, plus programs like Creighton, Florida, SMU, Wake Forest, Xavier and more.
Peck said he isn’t close to narrowing it down.
“That’s still kind of ways away,” he said. “I’ll get into that before the meat of the [high school] season if I can. I see a lot of people committing early, but just with like the transfer portal, you never know. So I just want to see who really wants me just even with the transfers coming in. And just who can help me develop and develop by getting on the court really. I think that’s going to be a huge piece for me.”
Last high school season, Peck played at IMG Academy. He has since transferred back to his home state of North Carolina to play with Davidson Day. Peck is ranked the No. 82 overall prospect in the 2026 class by 247Sports. His favorite NBA player is Tracy McGrady.
