The Seattle Seahawks are in it to win it again during the 2026-27 season and are on a mission to win two consecutive championship titles in a row. Having an elite edge in the mix would certainly help their cause, which is why the Seahawks were one of the teams in discussions with the Las Vegas Raiders to trade for pass rusher Maxx Crosby.
But, Crosby is now back with the Raiders, after a drama-filled few weeks during the NFL offseason that saw him getting traded to the Baltimore Ravens, fail his physical and then come back to the Raiders.
After Crosby announced on social media that he was back with the Raiders and going to be a “Raider for life,” it appeared that any hope for another NFL team to trade for him was gone. But, that may not be the case. Now, Crosby is opening up about what happened to him during that strange trade period with the Ravens, and it leaves the door open for another NFL team, such as the Seahawks, to swoop in and get him.
Las Vegas Raiders and Maxx Crosby Don’t Sound as Solid as Thought
Even though Crosby failed his physical, when he’s healthy, he’s in his prime. During the 2025 NFL regular season, according to NFL research, Crosby recorded 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss and one interception.
During the Tuesday, March 17 episode of his podcast, “The Rush With Maxx Crosby,” the player talked about his storied journey during the offseason. During the podcast show, he said that “the whole situation was probably one of the most unique, crazy, wild, up-and-down roller coasters I’ve ever been a part of.”
Crosby said that after doing the physical and getting a strange reaction from the Las Vegas Raiders’ powers at be, he called his surgeon, because he was worried. He described the talk, stating, “He’s like, ‘Your knee is great. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be or even ahead of schedule.’ He’s like, ‘You’re doing everything right. They know you had your surgery nine weeks ago.’”
“He’s showing me the actual literal literature of, like, ‘This is where the knee is supposed to be at from a meniscus repair,” Crosby added on the episode. “MRIs could be misleading because it’s still fresh in surgery and this and that.’ He’s like, ‘Listen, you’re doing everything right. Everything’s going well. We’re going to keep sticking to the plan.’ He’s like, ‘You will be back by training camp.’”
That’s when Crosby made a telling remark about his future with the Raiders. He said that he’s in it “for life” but added something. “Until that changes — which I don’t foresee. Honestly, you never know in this … league,” he said. “I found that out for sure. I just feel like I’m meant to be a Raider.”
NFL Insider Also Gives Update on Maxx Crosby Status
In a Monday, March 23 piece for SI, Albert Breer also talked Crosby. He said that he believes Crosby will start the 2026-27 season with the Raiders, but that he could see them trading him closer to the trade deadline.
“If there’s a window to trade Crosby, it’s probably closer to the trade deadline,” he states in the piece. “As we’ve established, it wouldn’t make sense for Vegas to sell low here. But if Crosby plays well, and the Raiders are struggling through a rebuild in late October, then all of this can be revisited. It’s not like there wouldn’t be a market then, if things play out that way.”
