Rams Deliver Concerning Injury Update on Davante Adams After Lions Game

December 14, 2025 by Heavy

The Los Angeles Rams experienced a potentially devastating development in Week 15 during their showdown against the Detroit Lions, specifically regarding offseason addition and star wide receiver Davante Adams.

LA entered the game with the NFL’s fourth-ranked offense in yards and points.

Adams has been integral to that, particularly in the red zone, making his status moving forward paramount for the Rams.

Rams head coach Sean McVay said, “We’ll see what’s going on” with Adams in his postgame press conference, adding that “it didn’t look good” on a short week. He also would not rule Adams out.

Adams ran deep for a route during the fourth quarter, awaiting the pass from quarterback Matthew Stafford. As the ball sailed through the air, however, Adams tumbled to the ground, staying for a while before being tended to by trainers. McVay said Adams was upbeat postgame.

The Rams are gearing up for what they hope is a deep run in the postseason.

With Adams’ status up in the air, however, the Rams’ outlook undoubtedly takes a hit as they await further clarification on the severity.

“Davante Adams slow to get up after that last play – he had pulled up in the middle of the route – but eventually walks off under own power with training staff,” TheRams.com’s Stu Jackson posted on X on December 14.

“He’s now headed back to the locker room.”

Adams never returned to the contest, underscoring that his status is truly up in the air heading into next week against the Seattle Seahawks on “Thursday Night Football.”

The Rams signed Adams in free agency during the 2025 offseason, inking the six-time Pro Bowler and three-time First Team All-Pro to a two-year, $44 million contract.

Adams has been a revelation for the Rams, continuing his consistent ways with quarterback Matthew Stafford, just as he did with Aaron Rodgers for years as a member of the Green Bay Packers and with the New York Jets.

Adams has navigated injury woes in practice this season.

However, he has yet to miss time, adding intrigue to his latest potential setback. The Rams are not exactly hurting for wide receivers, given that they still have their top option, Puka Nacua, available. The Rams also activated deep threat Tutu Atwell from injured reserve this past week.

They have seen tremendous growth from former undrafted free agent Xavier Smith, as well as 2024 sixth-round pick Jordan Whittington.

The Rams’ offense has also morphed as the season has gone on.

They lean heavily on three-tight-end looks, which could minimize the impact if Adams is forced to miss any time. However, the threat of the two pillars on the perimeter–Adams and Nacua–enhances the effectiveness and physicality of those tight end-heavy groupings

Rams Avoid Disaster

While Adams’ health will remain a source of intrigue this week, the Rams were fortunate to avoid a similar bout of uncertainty regarding Nacua.

Nacua went down during a pass play shortly after Adams exited the contest.

Fortunately for the Rams, Nacua–who finished with a 9-181-1 line–was dealing with cramps. He re-entered and finished the contest. Still, Adams is the NFL’s leader in receiving touchdowns and has been Stafford’s favorite red zone target.
