Ravens RB Derrick Henry Hits ‘Insane’ Career Rushing Mark

November 9, 2025 by Heavy

Sometimes the very best players aren’t really competing against who lines up across from them — they compete against history. And in some cases, their own history.

Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry ran for 75 yards on 20 carries in a 27-19 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10, which are pretty pedestrian numbers for one of the greatest running back in NFL history.

The more important thing for the Ravens was it was their third consecutive win and they improved to 4-5 after a 1-5 start to the season.

One important and somewhat odd thing for Henry was it saw his career NFL rushing total hit 12,127 yards in his 10th NFL season — which mean after a decade in the NFL he now has 3 more rushing yards than he had in 4 seasons at Yulee (Florida) High School.

“Ravens RB Derrick Henry has surpassed his insane high school rushing total of 12,124 yards in his NFL career,” The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov wrote on his official X account. “Unreal stat on so many levels.”

Henry is also the only football player to have rushed for over 2,000 yards in a single season on the high school, college and pro levels.

As a senior at Yulee in 2012, Henry broke Sugar Land (Texas) High School running back Ken Hall’s national career rushing record by running for 4,261 yards as a senior and finishing his career with 12,124 yards.

Henry’s Audacious Career Mark Goes Viral

Henry’s high school career comes up often for exactly how incredible it was.

“For reference, High School Derrick Henry reached that yardage total in 48 games, compared to 145 for NFL Derrick Henry,” Undaunted wrote on its official X account.

Henry was second in the NFL with 1,921 rushing yards in his first season with the Ravens in 2024 and led the NFL with 16 rushing touchdowns.

Henry signed a 2-year, $30 million contract extension with the Ravens in May.

“With his 73rd rushing yard Sunday, Derrick Henry’s NFL career total has surpassed his four-year high school rushing mark (12,124),” The Athletic’s Diana Russini wrote on her official X account. “Henry is in his 10th NFL season — and also overtook Hall of Famers Thurman Thomas and Franco Harris on the NFL’s all-time rushing yards list today.”

On Track to Surpass 1,000 Rushing Yards in 2024

While Henry’s season got off to a terrible start with 3 lost fumbles in 3 consecutive games to open the season — leading to one epic crash out — he’s still on track to rush for over 1,000 yards for the fourth consecutive season with 704 rushing yards through 9 games.

At his current clip, Henry should surpass 1,300 rushing yards if he plays in all 17 games.

In other historical terms — outside of his high school stats — Henry is also on track to crack the NFL’s Top 10 career rushing leaders list.

He’s currently at No. 15 but if he stays on track he would finish the season with approximately 12,752 rushing yards, bumping Dallas Cowboys legend Tony Dorsett (12,739 yards) out of the Top 10.

If Henry can play at least 3 more seasons, there’s a good chance he could bump Adrian Peterson (14,918 yards) out of the Top 5 career rushing leaders.
