Taylor Swift has been cheering on her future husband Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2025-26 season, but he’s also been cheering on his future wife. Swift released her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” on Oct. 3, and she’s topped the charts ever since it’s release.
In December, Swift learned that she was was on top of the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) tally of top-certified albums of the year for 2025, according to Billboard. The RIAA announced its official roster of 2025 certifications on Thursday, and Swift received the honor for the second consecutive year.
Swift also was No. 1 on the year-end tally with the highest certification level and the year’s No. 1 album for the 5x platinum “The Life of a Showgirl.”
Plus, earlier in 2025, Swift was honored for becoming the first female artist in history to surpass 100 million RIAA-certified album units for her full catalog. Also, Swift’s 11th studio album, “Tortured Poets Department,” was on top of the 2024 RIAA album tally.
But, there’s one honor that Swift is getting pushback on. Even though she’s received his award, it’s not quite as it appears.
Taylor Swift Pushback After News Surfaces
So, as Kelce makes his retirement decision, Swift is raking in more honors for her music. On Wednesday, January 21, the Songwriters Hall of Fame announced that she was being inducted at the young age of 36.
News quickly spread that she was the youngest to ever be inducted. But, that’s not quite right. While Swift is the youngest female to ever get the honor, she’s not the youngest person, overall.
In a Wednesday, January 21 feature, Billboard points out that Stevie Wonder was given the award at the age of 32.
“Wonder received Grammy nominations for song of the year for ‘You Are the Sunshine of My Life’ and ‘I Just Called to Say I Love You,’” Billboard said in the feature. “In 1985, he won an Oscar for best original song for ‘I Just Called to Say I Love You’ from ‘The Woman in Red,’ a sweet trifle that likely won mostly because it gave Oscar voters a chance to honor Stevie Wonder. In 2004, Wonder received the Johnny Mercer Award. In 2009, he received the Gershwin Prize.”
About Taylor Swift’s Latest Award
On Swift, Billboard states, “Swift has received eight Grammy nominations for song of the year, which puts her in a tie with her former collaborator Jack Antonoff for the most nods in the history of the category.”
Billboard adds, “Unlike Antonoff, she has yet to win in the category, an awards oddity she would doubtless like to change. Swift is the youngest woman ever inducted into the SHOF, a title previously held by Carole Bayer Sager, who was 43 years and two days old when she was honored in 1987 – just missing this list.”
Her album continues to get glowing reviews. “Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ combines new, exciting sonic turns with incisive storytelling,” Rolling Stone says in its review of the album. Maya Georgi of Rolling Stone said in a review. “On her 12th studio album, Swift hits all her marks — from new, exciting sonic turns to incisive storytelling.”
