Travis Kelce Makes Surprise History During Chiefs-Jaguars Game

October 7, 2025 by Heavy

It wasn’t a good night for the Kansas City Chiefs down in Florida, as the team fell on Monday, October 6, to the Jacksonville Jaguars in an unexpected loss. The Chiefs were favored to win in this NFL Monday Night Football showdown, but it wasn’t in the cards, and they walked out of the stadium with a 2-3 record.

It was obvious after the NFL game that quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and the rest of the Chiefs team were not happy. It’s never fun to lose, but this game hurt more, because they were already coming into it with some losses.

But, there’s a silver lining. Kelce made plenty of franchise history on Monday, and some of it was a surprise. His soon-to-be-wife, Taylor Swift, by the way, wasn’t at the game, likely because she rarely attends road games due to security reasons. She’s also on the road, promoting her new album, “Life of a Showgirl,” so she’s busy doing that.

Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce Breaks Non-Kickers Record

According to Arrowhead Addict, Kelce made some special history during the game in the NFL. With his 2-yard touchdown catch against the Jaguars, the popular tight end broke the franchise record for points scored in a career among non-kickers. With his touchdown reception, Kelce passed Priest Holmes as the most prolific touchdown scorer in franchise history,” notes Scott Loring in an October 6 feature.

Longtime Chiefs fans will remember Holmes, the record-setting running back who took the league by storm in 2001,” Loring adds of the NFL record. “At the time, new head coach Dick Vermeil had taken an inexpensive chance on the undrafted free agent who had experienced little success in Baltimore, and Holmes responded by leading the league in rushing yards.”

Loring also notes that “Kelce’s touchdown catch allowed him to eclipse the elusive Dante Hall, who held the franchise record for years after his remarkable career, in which he filled the highlight reels with his rushing, receiving, and kick returns.”

This was on top of the record that the Chiefs shared during the game, where Kelce racked up the most all-purpose yards in the history of the Chiefs. So, it was a good night for Kelce, even if that didn’t show in the final score.

Meanwhile, With Taylor Swift

Swift’s album is out, and the reviews are really glowing. “Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ combines new, exciting sonic turns with incisive storytelling,” Rolling Stone says in its review of the album. Maya Georgi of Rolling Stone says, “On her 12th studio album, Swift hits all her marks — from new, exciting sonic turns to incisive storytelling.”

Pitchfork says in their album review of the set that while much of the record “sounds like much of the pop music you have heard over the past 10 years and throughout your lifetime; it asks that this time, you listen more closely, because this is Taylor Swift, with the enormity of commercial power and cultural significance and algorithmic rank that implies.”

They add, “‘In my industry, attention is affection,’ Swift says in her video commentary introducing ‘Actually Romantic.’ That’s the showgirl’s job: making you pay attention. It’s working, and if this is the only pop album you hear this year, maybe it’s good enough.”

Hopefully Swift can comfort Kelce after the Jags mishap. It’s going to be a long flight back to Kansas City.
