Boozer twins choose Duke, follow in father’s footsteps

The wait for the Boozer twins’ college decision is over. Cameron, the No. 2 player in the 2025 class, and Cayden, the No. 21 overall prospect, will join forces at Duke, the former school of their father Carlos Boozer.

The twins announced for Duke over Miami on Friday.

“Duke is obviously a great school, one of the most winningest schools in college basketball,” Cameron Boozer, the No. 1 power forward in his class, previously told ZAGSBLOG. “So that’s obviously very impressive for them. Just the way the get at it and make deep runs each year.”

“Their playstyle is great,” added Cayden. “I like how their guards get involved. They can play on and off the ball. Every Duke guard that I see, they always just get better while they are there. It prepares them for the NBA.”

The twins become the first commits for Jon Scheyer, and the Blue Devils are now off and running in the 2025 class. Duke remains active recruiting and is involved with five-star forwards Nate Ament, Koa Peat, Nikolas Khamenia and Dwayne Aristode, five-star guards Brayden Burries and Shelton Henderson and four-star guard Acaden Lewis.

Duke has secured the No. 1 or No. 2 overall recruiting class every year since Scheyer has become head coach. The Boozer twins are certainly a great start to build a third No. 1 class in four seasons. Cameron Boozer becomes Scheyer’s sixth top-five prospect to commit since he took the head job.

“First of all, they’re both very skilled and they bring a different skill set to the game,” USA Youth Basketball coach Don Showalter told ZAGSBLOG. “Cam is a power forward while Cayden is a great passer point guard! It’s obvious both of played a lot of basketball because they’re very intelligent players on the court and they make everybody better. They’re great teammates so they’re gonna have a great career at Duke.”

The Boozer twins were seen as the major domino to fall in high school recruiting, and the cycle is now likely to heat up in light of this decision.

Their decision also ramps up the pressure on Scheyer and Duke to contend for the program’s first NCAA championship in decade. Read Adam Zagoria on NJ.com for more.
