Duke on Thursday announced the hiring of Evan Bradds as an assistant coach.
Bradds joins Duke after serving as an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz, where he was hired in 2022 by head coach Will Hardy. During his time in Utah, Bradds was instrumental in player development and also led the Jazz’s Summer League team in 2023.
“I’m excited to welcome Evan and his wife, MacKenzie, to Durham,” said head coach Jon Scheyer. “Evan brings an unbelievable basketball mind, NBA player development experience and a unique ability to build meaningful relationships with players—something that’s core to our culture. His experience, vision and forward-thinking approach will help keep Duke at the forefront of college basketball. We’re excited for what’s ahead.”
Before joining the Jazz, Bradds spent four years with the Boston Celtics organization. He began as an assistant coach and video coordinator for the Maine Red Claws, Boston’s NBA G League affiliate, before being promoted to the Celtics’ player enhancement staff under head coaches Brad Stevens and Ime Udoka.
A native of Jamestown, Ohio, Bradds played collegiately at Belmont University, where he had a standout career from 2013 to 2017, and earned a bachelor’s degree in finance. He was a two-time Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year (2016, 2017) and still holds the school’s NCAA Division I era scoring record with 1,921 points. Bradds also ranks sixth in NCAA Division I history in career field goal percentage at .667.

Bradds, 31, is married to his wife, MacKenzie, and is the grandson of former Ohio State All-American and NBA player Gary Bradds.
