LOS ANGELES (WNCN) — For the second year in a row, a Duke men’s basketball commit has won the national Gatorade Male Player of the Year award.
Live on Wednesday night at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles, Blue Devils’ five-star recruit Cameron Boozer was named the recipient of the award.
The 6’9″ power forward, who is the son of former Duke and NBA star player Carlos Boozer, is coming to his father’s alma mater this year with his twin brother Cayden, another five-star recruit. Both played high school basketball at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami.
Cam Boozer was named the national Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year in March, an award he had also previously won in 2023.
Last year, Duke’s top recruit Cooper Flagg won the same award. Flagg then went on to lead Duke to a stellar season that culminated in the 2025 NCAA Championship game, winning multiple individual awards along the way. Flagg was then taken No. 1 in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks.
