Five-star forward Cameron Williams previews official visits, updates recruitment

July 15, 2025 by Zags Blog

ROCK HILL, SC — It’s been quite the summer for five-star class of 2026 prospect Cameron Williams, the 6-foot-11 power forward out of St. Mary’s (AZ) and the Compton Magic Adidas 3SSB AAU program.

Williams has been a top performer on the Adidas circuit, attended camps including NBPA Top 100 and has seen his stock soar to a top-10 player in the class.

“I’m starting to blow up a little bit, schools are reaching out to me and all of that. But my main thing is to stay focused,” Williams said. “It’s been stressful, I’m not going to lie, all these schools reaching out and stuff like that. But I have my parents to help me out with that, and I’m just going to take my time to make this decision.”

With his stock rising, Williams has picked up an offer from Duke and has also scheduled an official visit to the Blue Devils on Oct. 3. The other visits Williams has set in stone right now includes Texas (Sept. 5), Purdue (Sept. 12) and USC (Oct. 11).

He previewed all those trips and discussed what stands out about those programs to ZAGSBLOG:

Duke: “It means a lot [to be offered]. That’s one of the biggest schools. [Jon] Scheyer called my dad first and talked to him for about 10 minutes and then handed me the phone and talked to me and offered me. Duke was my favorite school last year. I was rooting for them, like Cooper [Flagg], Kon [Knueppel] and all of them. It really means a lot.”

Purdue: “I love Matt [Painter]. I’d say Purdue has been the most communicative with me. They talk to me and both my parents and we’re really building a relationship. Him and P.J. [Thompson] have been really good at reaching out.”

Texas: “Just to see the atmosphere. They’re big on sports — like volleyball, baseball, basketball, football — everything. I just want to see that environment and how they do things down there. I’m excited because I’m going to be going to the football game [vs. San Jose State]. So that’s going to be cool.”

On Sean Miller: “I know he was at Arizona and Xavier previously. He has a good background and is well respected in the industry. I talk to him every other week, but he’s a cool guy. He tells me about the program and all that stuff.”

USC: “Eric Musselman, he’s really cool man. He FaceTime’s me like every other day. Just a good guy. Him and Etop [Udo-Ema] have a good connection, so that’s how he really found out about me. But yeah, he’s really cool and reaches out a lot.”

Williams said he’s also working on setting up a date to officially visit Arizona. He had a date set in stone, but he’ll now be going to Jayson Tatum camp and needs to reschedule. Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Stanford, TCU and Virginia are some other schools involved.

In Rock Hill, ZAGSBLOG spotted Alabama’s Nate Oats, Duke’s Jon Scheyer, Indiana’s Darian DeVries, Kansas’ Bill Self, Kentucky’s Mark Pope, North Carolina’s Hubert Davis, Purdue’s Matt Painter, Texas’ Sean Miller and assistants from Arizona, TCU and Virginia, among others, courtside to watch Williams play.

Has Williams given any thought to narrowing it down?

“I’m starting to now,” Williams said. “My list should be coming soon.”

The five-star power forward is currently unsure of his decision timeline.

“I was thinking of going the Nate Ament route, but I don’t know,” Williams said. “There’s a lot of factors. We’ll see. After these visits I might really like a school and all that.”

At 6-foot-11, Williams is one of the most versatile defenders in the class. He’s athletic enough to switch onto guards, and his long arms make him an elite rim protector. His 2.6 blocks per game ranks third on the Adidas circuit, and Williams has added 15.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game to supplement his defensive prowess.

He was able to attend NBPA Top 100 camp in June and learned many valuable lessons. But one stood out amongst the rest from NBA players.

“Just be you,” Williams said. “A lot of people who get what they want out of this game, they like tend to change. You know, get money or whatever. So just stay true to yourself and your goals and everything will be fine.”

Williams is ranked the No. 10 overall prospect in the 2026 class by 247Sports and the No. 1 player in Arizona. You can read our previous story on him here.
