Another matchup between Duke and North Carolina took place on Saturday night.
The matchup meant more to North Carolina since it needed a win to keep its NCAA Tournament hopes alive, but it wasn’t meant to be. Duke won by five. 62-57 in Chapel Hill.
The win got Duke to 23-8 overall while it dropped North Carolina to 19-12.
After the game ended, former Duke star Paolo Banchero wasted no time in talking some smack about the school’s biggest rival.
“Them boys not gonna make the (NCAA) Tournament,” Banchero tweeted.
Banchero is likely right unless the Tar Heels run the table and win the ACC Tournament, which is set to start this week.
It’s been one heck of a freefall for the Tar Heels. They entered the season as the top team in the country and are now unranked heading into ACC Tournament play.
This next week should be very interesting for that program.
