The Georgia Bulldogs have had a history of players being arrested on driving offenses. For the rest of college football, it has been a running joke. The Bulldogs have had multiple players being charged after driving well over 100 mph.
It came to a head when former Bulldogs defensive lineman Jalen Carter was allegedly racing his teammate, that cause a deadly car crash. Since then, multiple other Georgia players have been arrested for various driving-related offenses. It has been something Kirby Smart has been under criticism for.
With the offseason going on now, it seems Smart still can’t keep his players from being arrested while behind the wheel.

Two Georgia Bulldogs Arrested on Speeding Charges
According to multiple reports, two Bulldogs were arrested on speeding and reckless driving charges. Linebackers Chris Cole and Darren Ikinnagbon were arrested on Wednesday night. Both charges are misdemeanors, and Cole was released after posting a $26 bond.
Ikinnagbon was released shortly after that. This has become the latest example of Georgia players being unable to follow the law when it comes to driving. Smart has refused to take action in most cases, as he has let a lot of the charges slide in the past.
Cole was a starting linebacker on the Bulldogs this past season, recording 60 total tackles on the season to go along with 4.5 sacks. Ikinnagbon barely played as a freshman in 2025, recording just two total tackles. Now, both have to deal with an off-the-field incident.
Smart likely won’t be asked questions about this incident for at least a month. That’s when the Georgia Bulldogs start their spring ball program. Until then, the Bulldogs will likely keep both players in offseason workouts and let the legal process play itself out.

The Georgia Bulldogs Continue to Have Off-Field Distractions
While the Bulldogs have been fantastic on the field, they still can’t stop having players get in trouble off the field. Smart will have to take accountability for his players’ actions at some point. Of course, the on-field success takes precedent over everything in college football.
Last season, Georgia was able to make the College Football Playoff. They fell to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl, which was their first game in the Playoff. Next season, they have a favorable schedule to make the Playoff once again. The toughest game they have is at Alabama. They only have four away games.
The Bulldogs are going to be one of the favorites to win the SEC in 2026 after winning the conference in 2025. If they continue to have players arrested in the offseason, that could be harder for them to do. Off-field incidents in the offseason can certainly derail a team’s title chances.
Georgia will open up the 2026 season against Tennessee State on September 5. They might have the easiest schedule of any SEC title contender, so they need to take advantage of that.
