DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — The Duke Blue Devils open the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship tournament Wednesday after earning a first-round bye.
The seventh-seeded Blue Devils (36-18) face the No. 15 seed Pitt Panthers (28-26) in a second round game at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. First pitch was initially scheduled for 5 p.m. but has been pushed back to 6:10 p.m.
Duke finished with a 17-13 record in a loaded league that saw several teams jostling for first place. In their final regular season series against eventual ACC champion Georgia Tech, the Blue Devils lost two of three games.
Pitt advanced out of the first round of the single-elimination tournament by outlasting No. 10 seed Louisville Tuesday night. In the top of the ninth inning, Luke Cantwell hit a two-run home run to lift the Panthers over the Cardinals 13-11.
The winner of the game between Duke and Pitt moves on to the quarterfinal round. They’ll play Florida State on Friday afternoon.
