BERKELEY, Calif. (WNCN) — Duke football is about to face California for the first time as fellow Atlantic Coast Conference members.
The Blue Devils (3-2 overall, 2-0 ACC) and Golden Bears (4-1, 1-0) will clash in an “ACC after dark” matchup in Berkeley Saturday night. Kickoff at California Memorial Stadium is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET.
Duke, led by quarterback Darian Mensah, is taking a two-game winning streak out west and is coming off a big win at Syracuse last week. In that 38-3 victory, Mensah threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns, completing 22 of his 28 pass attempts. Nate Sheppard led the Blue Devils’ ground game with 168 yards and got into the end zone twice in the victory.
Cal’s most recent game was a 28-24 win at Boston College last Saturday. Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, the Bears’ freshman quarterback, completed 22 of his 34 pass attempts for 254 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Running back Kendrick Raphael, who spent the past two seasons at NC State, led Cal with 119 rushing yards and scored a touchdown.
Next on the schedule is an open weekend for the Blue Devils. Duke is next scheduled to play at home against Georgia Tech on Oct. 18.
