NBA Community Supports Kyle Singler Amid Personal Struggles

July 25, 2025 by The Spun

The 16 Most Annoying Fan Bases In College Basketball (2:21)

The NBA world is rallying together to show support for former Duke star Kyle Singler. Over the past few days, he has posted a handful of concerning videos on social media.

Singler, a former ACC Rookie of the Year and NCAA champion, has been out of the NBA since 2018. He last played for the Oklahoma City Thunder. A few days ago, he revealed that he’s feeling “abused” and “neglected” by his community.

“I need to make an announcement because I feel like my voice is getting silenced. Every day, [expletive] is being thrown my way,” Singler said. “I’ve been mistreated and abused, neglected, made into a mental example. I fear for my life every day. People in my community make me look out like I’m someone who’s going to be a problem and make things difficult for people when I’m only trying to be helpful. ”

Singler has posted a new video on Instagram every day for the past four days. His latest message was about having a “ton of growth” to do as an individual.

On Wednesday afternoon, the NBA Players Association announced that it’s in contact with the Singler family. The hope is the NBPA can get him through this rough patch.

“We are in contact with Kyle’s family,” a spokesperson for the NBPA said. “As with all current and former members of the NBPA, we offer any and all support to players, whether through their biggest successes or times of challenge.”

We’ve seen a handful of players, such as Kevin Love, Andre Drummond and Isaiah Thomas, reach out to Singler over the past 48 hours.

Singler averaged 6.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game during his NBA career while knocking down 36.2 percent of his 3-pointers. While at Duke, he averaged 16.2 points per contest.

Hopefully, we get a positive update on Singler in the coming days.
