By now, the baseball world has had time to react and air out opinions on Jurickson Profar’s 162-game suspension, but for the Atlanta Braves coaches, front office, and players, they are the ones who have to face the music. Jeff Passan broke the news Tuesday that Profar will be suspended from baseball for the entirety of the 2026 season due to violating MLB’s joint drug policy. Profar was suspended for 82 games in 2025 for the same reason.
On Wednesday, Braves players and manager Walt Weiss were asked about their thoughts on the incident and how it would impact the Braves. Atlanta signed Profar to a three-year, $42 million contract before the 2025 season, and the 2024 All-Star will now miss over 200 games of the possible 324 games over the last two seasons.

Walt Weiss’s Statement on the Situation
The Atlanta Braves were dealt tough Jurickson Profar news
Poor Walt Weiss has been thrown into the absolute fire as the new manager of the Atlanta Braves. Back in January, Ha-Seong Kim broke his hand slipping on ice. In February, two starters, Spencer Schwellenbach and Hurston Waldrep, both went down with elbow injuries that will force them to miss the start of the season.
And all on top of that, the front office, aside from really two signings early on in the offseason, hasn’t done much in terms of making moves for the new skipper.
When asked about the Jurickson Profar incident, here’s what the Braves’ manager had to say:
“I mean, look, obviously disappointed,” said Walt Weiss. “Found out about 10 minutes before it was announced. So, still processing a lot of this, but the fact of the matter is, there’s a collectively bargained agreement here between MLB and the players’ association that has to play out, so don’t know a whole lot right now, but obviously disappointed.”
“Look, it doesn’t change anything we do here, anything about our camp, opportunities will be created because of this. It’s not something we would choose, but it’s onward. We’ve got a professional group.”

Other Braves Speak Out on the Suspension.
It’s obviously a big distraction for the Braves right now, but as with every bit of news, it will eventually pass with time.
For those who want to hear other members of the Braves be asked questions on this incident, Mark Bowman of MLB.com is at the site of the Braves’ camp, and did a great job with getting all the clips together of individual players being approached by the media.
Tip: As you can imagine, they didn’t give much.
