Washington State transfer Cedric Coward committed to Duke on Monday following a visit, he announced.
The 6-foot-6 senior also considered Alabama along with the NBA Draft.
He is the first incoming or outgoing transfer of this cycle.
“ I witnessed Cedric Coward’s best game before his injury,” ESPN’s Fran Fraschilla told ZAGSBLOG via text. “He is an eventual NBA player. He is an instant starter on any team in college basketball and his intangibles are off the charts. Will be a great teammate wherever he ends up.”
I saw Cedric Coward drop 30 for @WSUCougarsMBB in December before his injury. He’s definitely a 20 to 40 selection in this NBA Draft & has smart agents. If he stays in college, he’s a starter on national championship contender. Started career in D-3.@coach_paint pic.twitter.com/GmvQfBvNh3

Coward averaged averaged 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assisgts in six games last season before suffering a shoulder injury.
In 32 games at Eastern Washington during the 2023-24 season, he averaged 15.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
Duke lost Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel and Khaman Maluach to the NBA Draft, but has the No. 3 high school recruiting class in 2025 with twins Cam and Cayden Boozer and forward Nik Khamenia.
