Who Is Deion Burks, Oklahoma Wide Receiver Lighting Up CFP

December 19, 2025 by Heavy

Deion Burks is making a name for himself in the College Football Playoffs after a massive first half against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The senior wide receiver started his career at Purdue where he played three seasons. In his redshirt sophomore season, Burks recorded 47 catches for 629 yards and seven touchdowns.

He transferred to Oklahoma University and caught 31 passes in his junior season.

Now as a fifth-year senior, Burks is second in receiving yards on the Sooners with 513 and three touchdowns.

He has recorded a career-high 50 catches coming into the playoffs.

Listed at just five-foot-nine, the 180-pounder is a walking highlight reel.

This third-down catch in the second quarter moved the chains for the Sooners.

The very next play, Burks would haul in an 18-yard reception to put Oklahoma in position to extend their lead to 17-0.

But that wasn’t the first near-impossible play Burks made in the first half.

Burks set the tone on the very first drive of the game, making a 14-yard toe-tapping reception on the sideline to once again move the chains on a big third down.
