Major College Football Team Adds Another Game To 2018 Schedule

NC State football is among the various teams to lose a game due to weather issues this season. For the Wolfpack, it was a high-profile non-conference game against a very good West Virginia.

Unfortunately for fans of the ‘Pack and the Mountaineers, they aren’t getting that game back.

NC State will play a 12th game, however. East Carolina lost its game at Virginia Tech earlier in the year due to Hurricane Florence.

The Pirates will now head to Raleigh on Saturday, Dec. 1.

NC State football announced the game earlier today.

As one would imagine, it hinges on the two teams not making their respective conference championship games. Considering Clemson’s dominance in the Atlantic and ECU’s struggles in recent years, that seems unlikely.

“This replacement game makes sense for both schools,” said Director of Athletics Debbie Yow. “NC State lost a home game and ECU lost a road game due to Hurricane Florence. We’re pleased to be able to secure this twelfth game for both our fans and our team.”

“While we remain focused on ACC play, we’re glad to schedule this game should it be needed,” said Head Coach Dave Doeren.

In addition, the two North Carolina programs have tacked on an additional home-and-home to an existing series.

Additionally, NC State and ECU have agreed to an extension of their longstanding series with games in Raleigh in 2025 and in Greenville in 2028. The teams are already scheduled to open the 2019 season in Raleigh and will play in Greenville in 2022.

NC State is 4-0 on the season, and hosts Boston College at Carter-Finley Stadium on Saturday. ECU is 2-2, and will travel up to Temple this weekend.
