July 31, 2025 by CBS 17

LAHAINA, HI (WNCN) — This November, not only will NC State men’s basketball will be making its Maui Invitational debut, but they will be one of the two teams opening up the Thanksgiving week tournament.

The Wolfpack are set to face off against the Seton Hall Pirates on Nov. 24 to start the 2025 Maui Invitational, event organizers announced Tuesday. Tip off at the Lahaina Civic Center will be at 2:30 p.m. Eastern time/9:30 a.m. Hawaiian time.

NC State and Seton Hall are in the same half of the bracket as USC and Boise State, who will face off in the second game of the tournament.

The other four teams in the 2025 edition of the annual event will play later in the day. Washington State and host school Chaminade will play in the third game of the tournament, while Arizona State and Texas will face off in the final contest of the opening day.

“The 2025 Southwest Maui Invitational features yet another competitive field and includes three teams making their Tournament debut and two previous Tournament champions,” said Tournament Chairman Dave Odom. “There’s truly nothing like the energy and atmosphere that fills the Lahaina Civic Center each November, and we are excited for each of these programs to add to this iconic Tournament’s history as they look to deliver Maui Magic for college basketball fans on-island and at-large.”

The Wolfpack and the Pirates have played six times before, with each team winning three games. The last time the two programs faced off was on March 15, 2018. Seton Hall won that NCAA Tournament first round game by a score of 94-83.

Ticket packages for the 2025 Maui Invitational will go on sale on Aug. 21.
