The ACC saw its revenue increase again, bumping the average payout to each of its 14 full-time members to $45 million for the 2023-24 academic year. Stanford, Cal, and SMU are excluded from a full share, and SMU, remember, isn’t getting anything for a while.
The league has increased revenue well over 50% over the last five years but of course it still lags well behind the Big Ten and SEC, which handed out an average of $63 million and $53 million, respectively, for 2023-24. Both leagues are due a significant bump with new television deals set to take effect. Hence the ACC’s ongoing existential crisis.
The ACC’s new brand initiative/unequal distribution model is set to take effect this year, and college football playoff expansion is imminent, so additional revenue is guaranteed, at least for some, in the near future. My sources indicate this will not stop the ACC’s biggest whiners from remaining big whiners.
