RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The Wolfpack announced Friday that they acquired some championship experience for the team from UConn.
According to the university’s athletic department, Qadence Samuels has transferred from the UConn Huskies — who won the 2025 NCAA women’s basketball national championship tournament — to N.C. State University.
Samuels is a 6-foot guard from Forestville, Maryland and spent two years as a Huskie. She largely came off the bench, averaging just a few points and rebounds per game. She did manage to have five games where she scored in double digits, and seven games where she grabbed more than five rebounds.
Head coach Wes Moore said he is excited for the young addition to their roster, as she arrives at N.C. State with two years of eligibility remaining.

“We’re excited to add Qadence to the Pack,” said Moore. “She is someone we followed and recruited throughout her high school career. Offensively, she has the ability to score at all three levels. Her length and athleticism makes her a playmaker on the defensive end and a factor on the boards. I know our fans will enjoy her energy as well.”
Samuels played 69 games for Connecticut, coming off the bench for 33 of them, including the national championship against South Carolina. Before her stint at UConn, she was ranked at No. 41 by ESPN amongst high school women’s basketball players in 2023.
