RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — North Carolina State football will have a chance to prove itself on a primetime stage Saturday night as a top-ranked unbeaten team comes to town.
The Wolfpack (4-4 overall, 1-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) hosts No. 8 Georgia Tech (8-0, 5-0) at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh on Saturday. Kick off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
NC State is in the midst of a two-game skid and haven’t played at home since Oct. 4. Last weekend, the Wolfpack suffered a high-scoring 53-34 loss at Pitt. Quarterback CJ Bailey threw for 225 yards and three touchdowns in that game, with two of them going to Justin Joly. Hollywood Smothers, the team’s star running back, had 86 yards on eight carries and found the end zone once.
The Yellow Jackets are making a push to be in the College Football Playoff and have not lost a game so far this year. In their last victory, Georgia Tech defeated Syracuse 41-16 at home. Haynes King, the Yellow Jackets’ dual-threat quarterback, had three passing touchdowns on 304 yards in the air and also rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
Up next for the Wolfpack is a bye week. That will be followed by a visit to Miami, who lost in overtime at SMU earlier Saturday, on Nov. 15.
