PITTSBURGH (WNCN) —Coming off a bye week, North Carolina State football is looking for its first win against an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent in over a month.
The Wolfpack (4-3 overall, 1-2 ACC) is in Pennsylvania to face the Pittsburgh Panthers (5-2, 3-1). Kick off at Acrisure Stadium is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
Prior to their weekend off, NC State suffered a 36-7 loss at Notre Dame on Oct. 11. Quarterback CJ Bailey struggled in the contest, throwing for 186 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. Standout running back Hollywood Smothers was also stymied by the Fighting Irish defense, managing just 46 rushing yards.
Pitt, meanwhile, is in the midst of a three-game winning streak. The Panthers’ last contest was a 30-13 victory at Syracuse last Saturday. Mason Heinstchel threw for 140 yards and had no passing touchdowns for Pitt, but he did run in for a score. Kenny Johnson also had a 66-yard punt return for a touchdown for the Panthers.
Up next for NC State is a date with No. 7 Georgia Tech. That game will be played at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh on Nov. 1.
