RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The NC State women’s team will look to defend its home court Saturday afternoon as the Wolfpack begins its NCAA Tournament at Reynolds Coliseum.
No. 3 NC State (27-6) and No. 14 Chattanooga (28-4) face off in a first round game in the Portland 4 bracket. Tip off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
In the Wolfpack’s last few games, River Baldwin, Aziaha James and Saniya Rivers have taken turns leading NC State in scoring. All three, along with Mimi Collins and Madison Hayes, are averaging double digits in scoring for the season.
The Mocs, who won both the regular season and tournament titles in the Southern Conference this season, are led by guard Jada Guinn, who averages nearly 20 points per game at 19.7 while shooting 52 percent from the field.
This is NC State’s 29th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 8th under head coach Wes Moore. The Wolfpack is 3-0 against Chattanooga all time, winning most recently in a December 2019 game in Raleigh.
