CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — The final home series of the regular season for the North Carolina baseball team is a big one, and not just because it’s against an archrival.
The No. 4 Tar Heels host the No. 16 NC State Wolfpack Friday for the middle game of a three-game series. Friday’s first pitch at Boshamer Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m.
UNC won Thursday night’s series opener, 8-1.
Both teams are battling near the top of the Atlantic Coast Conference standings. UNC (37-10 overall, 16-9 ACC) is in second place behind leader Florida State after Thursday night’s win over NC State (31-16, 15-9). The Wolfpack, who had been in second and half a game up on the Tar Heels before Thursday night, dropped down to fifth.
UNC will have a one-game date against the Seahawks on Tuesday, while NC State will have several days off before hosting a three-game series against Stanford late next week.
