RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – North Carolina State University Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan has signed a new contract extension that will keep him in Raleigh for another five years, the university announced on Friday.
The NC State Board of Trustees approved a two-year extension for Corrigan, whose new deal runs through June 2029.
“Under Boo’s outstanding leadership, NC State Athletics is experiencing new levels of competitive, academic and financial success,” Chancellor Randy Woodson said in a released statement. “We are fortunate to have such an experienced and well-respected leader to help us navigate through the ever-changing landscape of college athletics.”
Becoming in charge of the Wolfpack athletics department in 2019, Corrigan has led NC State to back-to-back top 20 finishes in the Learfield Directors’ Cup, which measures success in all collegiate sports. Corrigan also represented the university as the chair of the College Football Playoff committee for the last two seasons.
Since arriving in Raleigh, NC State has won 16 Atlantic Coast Conference team championships, three more than any other school during that period. The programs have also won three national titles – all by the women’s cross country team – along with 37 individual and team championships on the national level.
During the 2022-23 athletic year, four Wolfpack teams clinched ACC championships (cross country, men’s swimming, wrestling and women’s tennis) while six teams finished in the top 10 nationally. NC State was one of just eight schools in NCAA Division I to advance to the postseason in football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball and baseball this past year.
Corrigan said he’s appreciative to be staying at NC State for the foreseeable future.
“I appreciate Chancellor Woodson and the Board of Trustees for their continued trust and support and to our coaches, staff and student-athletes who work tirelessly every day to strengthen our Pack,” Corrigan said in a released statement.
