NC State has made another addition to its defense, picking up North Texas transfer cornerback Brian Nelson II over the weekend. Nelson emerged as a starter for UNT as a redshirt freshman in 2024 and has three more years of eligibility.
He finished the season with 53 tackles, plus three pass break-ups and four interceptions. He’ll have plenty of opportunity to earn a starting spot, what with the Pack having little proven experience at corner beyond Jackson Vick and Devon Marshall. NC State also added corners Jamel Johnson (Temple) and Jaren Sensabaugh (Missouri) through the portal.
Nelson makes 11 additions to the defense out of 15 total portal pickups. In the ACC, only Duke (9) and Clemson (3) have taken fewer transfers in this cycle, so NC State is betting pretty heavily on the talent it already has on hand. It’s a bit weird that a 15-transfer class qualifies as a relatively quiet offseason, but here we are.
