NC State landed a commitment yesterday from Ian Flynt, a former three-star tight end prospect in the class of 2024 who spent a season at Nebraska before hitting the portal this spring. Flynt redshirted last season, making a brief appearance in the team’s season-opener, and has four years of eligibility remaining.
Nebraska listed him at 6’4, 255.

Flynt is raw as a pass-catcher—he caught only six passes during his senior year of high school—and was moved to defensive line by Nebraska this spring. I don’t know if that contributed to his decision to leave—perhaps he wanted another chance to play on the offensive side. Or maybe he’ll end up playing defense for NC State as well. Either way, he’s going to need some time to develop.
NC State’s portal class also includes tight end Cody Hardy, a similarly-framed (6’5, 270) player who came over from Elon.
