For the fifth year in a row, NC State earned a top 25 finish in the Director’s Cup, continuing an unprecedented run of success for the athletics department. NC State finished at No. 20—after finishing at 21 last year—and fifth among ACC schools.
Stanford, which has won the Director’s Cup more than anybody, finished at No. 3, followed by UNC at No. 4, Duke at No. 10, and UVA at No. 12. NC State definitely doesn’t have one of the five largest budgets in the ACC, so as usual, State is punching above its weight.
NC State’s strong Olympic sports programs continue to carry the load—women’s cross country, women’s track, both swimming programs, wrestling. Imagine how much having a men’s basketball team make the NCAA tournament on a regular basis might help!
We’re fortunate to have a lot of quality coaches on campus these days, and that’s reflected in the final standings.
