The Wolfpack will turn to the offseason
NC State’s 2025 baseball season came to an end with an 11-1 loss to Auburn in the finals of the 2025 Auburn Regional. The Wolfpack finish the season with a 35-21 record.
While State attempted to play small ball for a single run in the bottom of the 3rd of what was a 0-0 game at the time, Auburn put together a 7-run top of the 4th to effectively end the game early. After the Tigers added 3 more runs in the following inning, it was just a matter of reaching the finish line.
That difference in playing for a single run versus playing for the big inning really underscored the difference between these two teams. While the Wolfpack offense put together dominant efforts in wins over CCSU and Stetson over Saturday and Sunday, the consistency just wasn’t there against the better pitching in the Regional. And so it goes.
This was a good NC State team that unfortunately peaked in late April. Once the mojo was broken, it just couldn’t be re-harnessed, and the team went 5-9 from April 29 through the end of the season.
Attention will now turn to the transfer portal (the window is currently open and closes on July 10th) and the 2025 MLB Draft (July 13-15).
