I remember the early reports that NC State would be involved with Memphis transfer PJ Haggerty and dismissing them without a second thought because, well, I figured that kind of player was a bit outside of our price range.
But, uh, maybe he isn’t?

Will Wade has done a fine job in the portal but this would be something else altogether—a real splash addition that would significantly improve NC State’s prospects next season. Whether or not it does happen, it’s encouraging to read between the lines on this and realize State actually might have the NIL firepower to bring on a player of this caliber. That I did not expect.
Haggerty would help Wade’s program get off to a running start, which would make building for the season after a little easier, I’d imagine. Helps when you can point to results, and not just a vision. So he’d be a meaningful addition in a number of ways.
