Running out of patience yet?
If you haven’t yet seen Coach Wade making calls to get season ticket holders to renew, take a minute (1:14) and enjoy. Coach Wade is all in on the Wolfpack.
Roster News
- Matt Able – Incoming freshman Matt Able won the 3PT shooting contest at the 2025 Iverson Classic over the weekend.
- James Scott / Ven-Allen Lubin – With Paul Mbiya signed, they will look elsewhere.
- Musa Sagnia – 6’8” 218 forward / center, playing international ball for BAXI Manresa, originally from The Gambia. Musa is the international player we have heard rumors about signing. Very little in the way of actual facts has been released, but apparently, he is still in conversation with the Wolfpack and the staff believes he will sign. (some sites say he has already signed but is dealing with international paperwork) He has played four seasons of international ball. Last season (’24-’25) he played in 41 games and averaged 14.1 minutes. He averaged 3.7 ppg, 3.0 rpg and shot 44.4% / 30.2% / 38.5%. (link) Sagnia is targeted as a backup at center.
NBA Early Entrants
NBA key dates
- Combine – May 11-18
- Last day to withdraw from the draft – June 15
NC State has two signees and a couple of key targets that have submitted their names for the draft. Jerry Deng and Paul Mbiya are in but only to get feedback. They are expected to be in the red & white next season. Both PJ Haggerty and Darrion Williams made the 75 player cut, and have been invited to the combine. Both are focused on the draft process and are not doing any visits. The combine starts next week (11th), there is a good chance they will both go through that process before making their decisions.
CBS Sports analyst and Director of Scouting at 247Sports Adam Finkelstein did an analysis of players in the draft, excerpts from his assessments of Haggerty & Williams are included below:
- PJ Haggerty – 6’3” 191 junior guard, transferring from Memphis, originally from Crosby TX
If you can believe what you read online, many of the portal prognosticators seem to think PJ will be signing with NC State. However, it probably all boils down to where he believes he will get drafted. If he’s a first-round pick, he’s likely to stay in the draft.
If you had to choose where you were going to spend your last chunk of NIL dollars between these two (and we probably do), Haggerty is the way to go. Over the last two seasons, at two different schools he averaged a wildly impressive 21.x ppg, 5.x rpg, 3.x apg, and 1.x steals.
Finkelstein: “…there can sometimes be a difference between great college players and what NBA decision-makers view as great prospects for their league. Haggerty is probably an example of that. “ “If Haggerty gets anywhere near $4 million to play college, he should run to it, because the chances he makes even half that in the NBA next year are very low.”
- Darrion Williams – 6’6” 225 junior forward, transferring from Texas Tech, originally from Sacramento CA
Darrion hit his stride his sophomore season when he transferred to TT. He averaged 11.4 pg and 7.5 rpg and shot a very healthy 45.8% from 3PT. Last season his scoring improved to 15.1 ppg, his rebounding decreased to 5.5 rpg, but his assists were 3.6 apg. His 3PT percentage did drop to 34%.
Finkelstein: “Projecting Williams to the NBA is a little less clear, though. He’s not a dynamic athlete, shot a career-low 34% from three last season, and has somewhat limited defensive foot speed. “ “While his intellect and versatility might still allow him to crack an NBA roster, there’s very little doubt that his earning potential is superior in college next season than it would be in any pro ranks.”
