Not sure how I missed this last week, but big man Paul Mbiya already has a tremendous nickname:
“I wear the number 34 because of Giannis [Antetokounmpo],” Mbiya said. “I like the fact that he plays hard on both end of the floor. I love the fact that he wants to dominate. They call me ‘Mobutu, the Dictator of the Paint.’”
That’s perfect, I love it. Too many peons of the paint at NC State lately, not enough dictators. Paul Mbiya demands all of the rebounds as tribute. Between Mbiya and Ven-Allen Lubin, NC State’s defensive rebounding should be vastly improved from last season (and it needs to be). Love the big reboundy guys doing the big reboundy guy things.
