Background:
Tre Holloman, from St Paul MN, was a 247 4-star, top 100 player coming out of high school. On3 has him as a 4-star transfer prospect and the #7point guard.
He signed with Michigan State and broke into the starting lineup this season for 16 games but in his career has been mostly used as a sixth man. In a game against Maryland, he hit the game winner from beyond half court. (linked below) He averaged 23.1 minutes per game this season and was 3rd on their team in scoring.
KenPom has him with a 29.5% assist rate, ranked 76th in the country.
Is he a starter? Yes He has only started 18 games of the 106 he has played. But if you look at his assist numbers, you have to be impressed. He had 137 assists last season playing mostly from the bench averaging only 23.1 minutes; in five seasons Michael O’Connell never matched that total and he was a ‘pass first’, full time starting point guard who never averaged less than 25 minutes a game in a season.
What position? He is a point guard. As noted above, he’s going to generate offense with passing. In addition to his flashy numbers as a junior described above, as a sophomore in only 19.7 minutes per game he had 9 games with 4+ assists, including his career high 10.
Welcome to the Pack!
