Barring any boomerangs, there will be some significant turnover with State’s baseball roster in 2026
Add one more to the list of NC State’s 2025 baseball team that are now in the transfer portal; Trenton Lyons will seek new digs for the 2026 season.
Lyons transferred into the Wolfpack program ahead of the 2025 season after spending his freshman year at Ole Miss. The former highly rated prep player served as a backup catcher for the Rebels in 2024, but was expected to compete for a starting job with NC State in 2025. Instead, injuries hampered his early playing time with the Pack9, and when he finally did get some starting run in mid April, Lyons injured his hamstring and didn’t see the field again for the Pack.
On the year, the Memphis native hit .250/.400/.375, 2 2B, 0 HR, 15.0 BB%, 30.0 K%, 0-0 SB over 20 PA. Lyons athleticism and arm strength provides defensive flexibility, with the ability to play catcher, infield, and outfield. He should have no shortage of suitors, despite his limited collegiate experience.
