If like me you’ve been wondering why renovations to Doak Field halted this past offseason, wonder no more: they were actually on hold while a new, larger plan was brought to the Board of Governors.
The updated plan, which has a $20 million price tag—up from the original $15 million—was approved yesterday. NC State installed a new playing surface and moved the bullpens to the outfield prior to last season, but hasn’t done much else. That’ll change this offseason, with the next steps including major upgrades to the team’s facilities, including the locker room and weight room, per Pack Pride.
Presumably the updates to the stadium’s seating and amenities will come after that. I’ll be curious to see what the updated enhancement plan looks like, once it’s made public.
It’s nice to have the ball rolling again on these upgrades, which are long overdue.
