We hear a lot of things down here in the Dungeon. Mostly we hear a swirling—some might say a howling—wind of agony. These are mostly rumors, however. Can’t really trust which way the wind is blowing, right? Half the week we’re down wind from the Rack Innovation Department. No telling what’s going on there. We have a mutual deal where no one asks and no on asks.
You can just imagine the delight here in the Dungeon, however, when we learned that our actions might have a positive impact on NC State sports. The more we Dungeon, the more we care. That’s how we’re looking at, anyway. It’s mandated.
What do we do with the free money we won in the Dungeon this spring? We pay it forward (to ourselves) (or a power forward).
Gambling is not just great for the kids, it benefits the athletics department, but these are not easy choices. This time of year, a lot of people don’t know what to do with their walkin’ around Draft Kings money. I understand this entirely. Nothing’s in my wheelhouse now. Baseball? Soccer? The White Sox??? But you’ve got to throw it away somewhere, because it’s going to get taxed and distributed to NC State and then used to make a better basketball team.
So what should you or I do? I got a couple ideas.
— CAR vs. WPG, Stanley Cup Final Future +2900: Five bucks will get you $150 on this deal; the Canes are due a breakthrough, and Winnipeg is the best team in the league. Nobody’s ever made more or less money on this particular idea.
— CLE vs. OKC, NBA Finals Future +957: People don’t like to pick the best two teams in the league at any given time, and also people are just kind of built against bets for Cleveland. We reject this.
— Houston +1100 to win 2026 NCAA tourney: These odds are terrible; what, we’re running a charity here? What’s going to happen to my money, it’s going to get taxed and thrown into a large pool that is then sent to my alma mater which in turn spends the money on players in an effort to stop Houston from winning the 2026 NCAA tournament? That’s what happens? That’s what we’re talking about here?
