Alabama, Kansas, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, UConn all set for big official visit weekends

September 5, 2024 by Zags Blog

By SAM LANCE

Several elite programs have huge official visit weekends ahead with five-stars or multiple prospects coming to campus. ZAGSBLOG is here to break it all down.

Alabama

Visitors: Caleb Wilson, Hudson Greer, London Jemison.

This will be the second weekend in a row Alabama and Nate Oats have hosted three prospects on campus. Last weekend, it was Davion Hannah, Jaden Toombs and Amari Allen. This weekend, it’s three elite top-40 prospects, and Wilson, a consensus top-five prospect.

Starting with Wilson the five-star, he has one other official visit set this fall to Kentucky (Sept. 13) and plans on seeing Oregon. He’s already visited Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia Tech with a USC unofficial on Aug. 22. All of those schools are in his top-12 with Arkansas, Duke, North Carolina, Ohio State and UCF as well. ZAGSBLOG will catch up with Wilson after he visits Alabama.

As for Greer and Jemison, both are versatile forwards who can stretch the floor and make plays for others. Greer does not have an official top list but he has visits set to Arizona (Oct. 4-6), UConn (Oct. 11-13) and Kansas (Oct. 25-27). He’s previously taken unofficials to Creighton and Texas. All of those schools are in play and Alabama is certainly a program to watch in Greer’s recruitment.

Jemison took an official visit to Kansas this past weekend and both the Jayhawks and Alabama are major players. He will take Louisville (Sept. 13-15) and Virginia (Sept. 27-29) before making a decision likely in October. After Virginia, Jemison would have visited all of his finalists of Alabama, Kansas, Louisville, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Virginia.

Kansas

Visitor: A.J. Dybantsa.

The Jayhawks and Bill Self are set to host No. 1 prospect A.J. Dybantsa this weekend. Kansas is in the top seven along with Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, BYU, Kansas State and North Carolina. Dybantsa is fresh off a Kansas State visit and also has North Carolina (Sept. 20-22), Alabama (Sept. 27-29), Baylor (Oct. 4-6) and BYU (Oct. 11-13). It’s hard to tell who leads in this recruitment, but the Jayhawks could certainly leave a mark with a well executed official.

Dybantsa will make his college decision in February, so there’s still a long way to go with his recruitment. Full breakdown can be found here.

Miami

Vistors: Jerry Easter, Jaden Toombs.

Miami has a commitment in the 2025 class already in guard Matthew Able, and they are in a good spot to possibly land the Boozer twins after they took an unofficial this past week. Jim Larrañaga just keeps on recruiting and could be in the midst of a special high school class.

Easter is an interesting prospect in terms of his recruitment. He has a long list of suitors and hasn’t cut his list down, nor does he plan to anytime soon via his last conversation with ZAGSBLOG. Besides Miami, Easter also has Florida State (Sept. 13-14), SMU (Sept. 20-22), Ohio State (Oct. 4-6) and USC (Oct. 18-20) visits scheduled. An interesting tidbit to watch here is Easter’s relationship with Toombs. They appear to be close, as they are visiting Miami together and also SMU. Having both on campus at the same time could be big for Miami. Toombs is down to a top five of Alabama, LSU, Miami, SMU and Texas Tech.

Michigan

Visitors: Braylon Mullins, Acaden Lewis, Kareem Stagg.

The Wolverines have two top-35 prospects coming to town as well as a versatile four-star big man in Stagg. This is a big time weekend for newly hired head coach Dusty May, as he tries to make a splash in his first recruiting class.

Let’s start with Mullins here. The shooting guard has cut his list to a top 10 of Alabama, Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Purdue, Tennessee and UConn. It seems that Indiana, Kentucky and UConn are out front right now for him, but Michigan could certainly make up some ground with him on campus. Mullins will also travel to North Carolina (Sept. 14), Indiana (Sept. 20), Duke (Oct. 4), Tennessee (Oct. 19) and Kentucky (Oct. 25) this fall.

As for Lewis, he’s one of the highest risers in the rankings from his play this summer. Simply put: Lewis gets buckets. On the recruitment front, he’s recently completed some unofficials to Duke and Syracuse. He’s also been on campus at Kentucky (June 17) and UConn (June 25) and has an official set to North Carolina (Oct. 4). Lewis’ top eight of Auburn, Duke, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee and UConn are all in play.

Wrapping up with Stagg, the talented big man will be in Ann Arbor after a trip to Georgia this past weekend. He has a top six of Georgetown, Georgia, Houston, Michigan, Oklahoma State and Wake Forest. Currently, no other visits are scheduled for Stagg after Michigan. It’s important to note Stagg is visiting Sept. 4-6, with Mullins and Lewis visiting Sept. 6-8.

North Carolina

Visitors: Derek Dixon, Nikolas Khamenia.

Dixon is a priority target at guard for the Tar Heels, who will be needing to replace All-American RJ Davis after the 2024-25 season. From what ZAGSBLOG has heard, North Carolina is in a good position. Dixon plans to commit shortly after his final official visit to Arizona (Sept. 13), likely the weekend of Sept. 27. He took a visit to Vanderbilt this past weekend and will have visited all of his other finalists of Arizona, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia and Vanderbilt before the decision.

Moving on to Khamenia, he is down to a top five of Arizona, Duke, Gonzaga, North Carolina and UCLA. He’s taken an official to Arizona (Aug. 31) and Gonzaga and has Duke scheduled as well (Sept. 13). A decision is looming. He would like to choose a school in mid-October after visits, per 247Sports.

UConn

Visitor: Eric Reibe, Darius Adams.

Reibe, the talented 7-footer, is fresh off a visit this past weekend to Kansas. Now, Dan Hurley will have the opportunity to give his pitch. With Reibe, he’s had some interesting developments in his recruitment the past couple days. After the Kansas official, he’s now cancelled visits to Kentucky and North Carolina. Reibe really enjoyed his Kansas visit and it seems the Jayhawks have set a high bar. Reibe will be on campus Sept. 6-8.

Adams will also be on campus from Sept. 4-6. He is a talented, elite 3-point shooting wing. He doesn’t have an official list but told ZAGSBLOG the schools he’s visiting are the schools he’s focused on. The rest of Adams’ visit schedule is as follows: NC State (Sept. 6-8), Notre Dame (Sept. 10-12), Tennessee (Sept. 13-15), Michigan State (Sept. 20-22) and Alabama (Sept. 27-29).

Other Notables

  • Notre Dame is set to host five-star Jalen Haralson, four-stars Ryder Frost and Brady Koehler.
  • Purdue will host Trent Sisley.

Be sure to check the ZAGSBLOG official visit tracker for other official visits this weekend. The tracker will be updated frequently with new visits and cancellations.
